If you plan to bring your computer on campus, you must complete all required steps on this CD before you may connect to the Emmanuel network.
We have included a number of optional tools after the required steps that will help you keep your computer clean of adware, spyware, viruses, and/or worms. If any of these problems is affecting your machine, it may become impossible to complete your homework or send email to your friends. If at any time the Helpdesk detects an infected machine in the dorms, or in a wireless zone, the network connection to that machine can be disabled. In this instance, the network connection will not be re-enabled until you clean your machine and the Helpdesk has been able to verify it.
To receive help from Helpdesk staff, students must have antivirus software installed, and operating systems and virus definitions that are up-to-date. Follow all of the instructions on this CD, and your machine will be fairly clean, and protected from a variety of possible problems in the future!
