Emmanuel College requires all computers which will be connecting to the campus network to have an active and up-to-date antivirus software. If your machine is infected, and the Helpdesk disables the network connection to your room, the network connection will not be re-enabled until an antivirus application is installed, updated, run and the Helpdesk verifies your machine is clean.
If you do not have an antivirus software running on your machine, or your current subscription has expired please click here for product information.
If you need directions to a local BestBuy or Staples click here.
The Emmanuel College Helpdesk requires using McAfee's Stinger to detect and remove specific viruses just before connecting to the schools network. Stinger is NOT a substitute for full antivirus protection; it complements antivirus software by detecting many of the most common viruses and worms (if you are curious, take a look at the list). Depending on the number of files on your hard drive, and how many infections it finds, running Stinger will take at least 15 and as many as 30 minutes.
